5 Reasons Men On TRT Are Taking Pumpkin Seed Oil Instead Of Finasteride

(Without touching their dose)

  • 320mg standardised saw palmetto
  • 3,000mg pumpkin seed oil
  • No prescription
  • Two softgels a day

#1: It blocks DHT Naturally without side effects & Your TRT dose stays exactly the same

Every other fix asks you to give something up. Finasteride asks for your libido. Minoxidil asks for two minutes a day for the rest of your life.

So most men end up doing the third thing nobody talks about. Cutting their own dose. 150mg down to 120. Splitting the shot. A few weeks off the cream. Getting less out of the treatment that fixed them — and still finding hair in the drain.

This works further up the chain. It acts on 5-alpha-reductase, the enzyme that turns your testosterone into DHT, so your protocol stays exactly where your doctor set it.

  • Two softgels each morning
  • Nothing changes about your TRT
  • Shedding was measured at 16 weeks, hair count at 24

What it changes: your DHT

What it doesn’t change: your TRT dose

#2: It’s the only supplement made for men on TRT

Every hair supplement on the shelf is built for the average balding man. You are not him.

His testosterone is drifting down with age. Yours has been deliberately put up — which means there is more raw material available for conversion into DHT than your body has ever had. That is a different problem and nobody formulates for it.

Somebody was very keen to sell you testosterone. Nobody said a word about your hairline. That gap is the entire reason this exists.

#3: Pumpkin Seed Oil with Saw Palmetto — in a 24 week trial Hair count went up by 40%

This is the part most brands hope you skip.

Pumpkin seed oil with saw palmetto — the two together. That pairing is what was actually tested, and it is why our formula contains both. Randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled. 76 men with mild-to-moderate hair loss, 24 weeks. Hair count rose 40%, against 10% on placebo. Side effects no different from placebo.

Saw palmetto. Put head to head against 1mg finasteride in 150 men over two years. 38% saw regrowth on saw palmetto against 68% on finasteride. Less than the drug — and without the drug.

Straight from the paper. This is the result sentence, word for word:

“Mean hair count increases of 40% were observed in PSO-treated men at 24 weeks, whereas increases of 10% were observed in placebo-treated men (P < 0.001).”

Figure 3 from Cho et al. 2014: hair count and hair thickness at baseline, 12 weeks and 24 weeks, treatment versus placebo
The actual figure from the trial. Top: hair count. Both groups start at 100. At 24 weeks the pumpkin seed oil group sits around 142 and placebo around 114 — the asterisk marks statistical significance.

Now look at the bottom panel, because we would rather you heard it here. That is hair thickness, and the two bars are almost the same. The trial found a difference in how many hairs, not in how thick they were. Anyone selling you this on thickness is not reading their own evidence.

The mechanism, plainly. Testosterone becomes DHT through an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase. DHT binds to sensitive follicles and shrinks them a little more each cycle, so the hair comes back finer, then finer, then not at all. Both ingredients slow that enzyme down. It is the same pathway finasteride works on, approached differently and less forcefully.

And the dose is the whole argument. Pick up almost any hair supplement and read the small print.

Elmore The usual label
Saw palmetto 320mg standardised extract “300mg” — from 75mg of a 4:1 crude
What that means The dose used in the trial 75mg in the capsule. The 300 is fruit-equivalent
Pumpkin seed oil 3,000mg Often a fraction, or absent
Both together? Yes — as they were trialled Usually one, usually under-dosed

Read that middle row twice. When a label says “300mg from 75mg of 4:1 extract”, there is 75mg in the capsule. The trial used 320mg. The number on our label is the number from the study.

#4: It works on your prostate too

Raised testosterone means raised DHT, and DHT does not only act on your scalp.

It is why your clinic checks your PSA, and why the prostate conversation arrives eventually for every man on long-term TRT.

Pumpkin seed oil has been tested head to head against tamsulosin — the drug men get prescribed for exactly this. 73 men, three months, 720mg of pumpkin seed oil a day against 0.4mg of tamsulosin.

Both groups got better. The drug got them better faster: symptom scores dropped 5.33 points on tamsulosin against 3.19 on the oil.

Then read the side effect column. Pumpkin seed oil: none reported. Tamsulosin: dizziness, headache, and retrograde ejaculation.

You have read that shape already on this page. Less than the drug, without what the drug charges you. Same two plants, same hormone, in the place your bloodwork is already looking.

Worth knowing: that trial used 720mg of pumpkin seed oil a day. Elmore is 3,000mg. And no, nobody has run it in men on TRT — we will tell you that every time it is true.

#5: Don’t like it? Money back.

30-day money-back guarantee. If it is not for you, send it back.

But we are going to be straight with you. Thirty days will not show you a hairline. The studies ran 16 to 24 weeks, and a man who judges this at four weeks will judge it wrong.

The guarantee is there so you can find out whether the product suits you — whether it sits well, whether you will actually take it every morning. The results question takes a season, and we would rather tell you that now than have you expect something in February that the research says arrives in June.

What we are not going to tell you. That it replaces finasteride. It does not — the head-to-head says 38% against 68%, and we would rather print the honest number than the flattering one. That it stops TRT hair loss. No trial has been run in men on TRT, so nobody can tell you that yet, and anyone who does is guessing at your expense.

Your Six Months

What the research actually measured, and when
  • Before you start: Take a photo in the same light. Most men only notice how much changed by comparing back.
  • Day 1: Two softgels each morning. Your TRT protocol does not change.
  • Week 16: The point at which shedding was measured in the saw palmetto trial.
  • Week 24: The point at which hair count was measured. Take the second photo, same light.
